Weigh it all and warm the fruit
Then stir me slowly, and add silver loot
Now mix the sugar, flour and fat
And add the fruit, more nuts, all that
Grease the basin and line it right
Tip me in and wrap me tight
Then gently steam me till I’m done
And now I’m ready, pudding number one
To serve me put me on a plate
With a sprig of holly and an extra date
With custard or cream – it’s all the same
And darling, don’t forget to light my flame
